Centre of Orthopeadic Osseointegration (COO) at Sahlgrenska University Hospital represented by Örjan Berlin, orthopaedic surgeon, Kerstin Hagberg, physiotherapist, and Marika Qvist, CEO Sahlgrenska I.C, were tbe key note speakers at the Congress of the Polish Society for Orthotics and Prosthetics that took place April 20th 2013 in Warsaw. In addition to attending the Congress, the 2-day visit contained a number of meetings at private and public clinics, such as VIGO-ORTHO, an orthopaedic workshop in Warsaw, POLMEDIC, a rehabilitation clinic, and orthopaedic and trauma clinics at the Specialist Hospital and Regional Specialist Hospital in Radom.
The specialist team also performed initial consultations with two polish patients interested in undergoing the treatment. The overall aim with the visit was to increase the awareness about the osseointegration treatment developed and performed by the COO-team at Sahlgrenska among healthcare professionals in Poland. COO and Sahlgrenska I.C. hope to have inspired those we have met to learn more about the treatment, enabling future identification of patients for which this treatment can significantly improve quality of life. COO and Sahlgrenska I.C. look forward to continuing the dialogue with both patients and orthopaedic professionals in Poland interested in the treatment.
